thank u
This is some pretty strange stuff, does anyone know who these people are?
German artist Bretschneider is best known as the founder of Raster-Noton, one of experimental electronic music’s key outlets. But before he ran Raster-Noton, Bretschneider had another label called klangFarBe, which he started in 1985 in the East German city of Chemnitz (then known as Karl-Marx-Stadt). Owing to the communist GDR’s chokehold on arts and culture, all eight of klangFarBe’s releases of minimal wave-esque music were released secretively, in very limited runs. The label remained relatively out of reach even after German reunification—only AG Geige’s 1987 album Yachtclub + Buchteln was given a reissue, back in 1998.
According to Juno Plus, German Democratic Republic Tape Music 1983-1987 features selections from that Geige tape, along with Bretschneider’s Scombermix—the first release on klangFarBe—Stein Im Brett’s Vater Alfons Erzählt from 1986 and Kriminelle Tanzkapelle’s Glückliche Jahre from 1985.
I read naysayers’ comments here once in a while, but nodata is an amazing source of music that would otherwise remain unknown. Ths nd!
wow… awesome!
