This comes from Herbert’s own flesh, locked in a room for 24 hours while doing the playlist.
While that is commendable, in no way should it sway us from judging it solely on anything but the strength of the music: We are the sole judges of it all. Art, media, information, it’s us who cast the final decision, and we will see to it that no gimmickry hides the true assessment of the record’s value.
Fascinating artwork. I must say….
OMG I love dark ambient. Almost as much as I love broccoli and garlic sauce clam pasta. This is undoubtedly a feast among the many in the nodata bacchanalia.
You really can replicate the same experience with your own tape recorder. I generally love Matthew Herbert but anybody can listen someone else breathing, grooming, shitting or any of the other day-to-day crap we do as humans boring as fuck. In fact, don’t most people get fucking annoyed listening to other people’s behaviours. Maybe I’m just mad because I was expecting a harmonic fart symphony.
Is this just a recording or does it have some music elemnts except that ?
There are some ambient type sounds and effects, some rhythmic loops and ideas along with the sounds. It seems like something you would see/hear at an art gallery installation.
A couple tracks have ambient tones and pads, but the album is mostly noise and manipulation of his recorded sounds.
This is… A R T ! !! !!! !!!!
This is a nice record. No surprise that the two musicians are from Quahog..
Mathew Herbert has made a nice record. It comes as no surprise that this recording wasn’t made in Brooklyn (the land of the new generation yuppie: tech savvy dweebs with beards)..
I prefer the term “curated sound”
I find it pretty hard to masturbate to this..
Really? The last track “Is shitting” is bound to be eroto-arousing
A lovely curated set of farts. Well done Matthew. I’de like to introduce you to my friend Kanye.
