Yeah, its ok, but… yeah kinda disappointing.
(Kinda like the first half of the new Ian Hagwood… The Woven Tide did it already, so did Field Rotation).
I am glad the dinosaur record industry is dying… but the downside is that SO many things just suck a little.
I was listening to Love & Rockets the other day, their album “Earth, Sun, Moon” or “Kundalini Express” are good examples: They were totally underground, but releasing an LP was a BIG DEAL back then, and wether or not you like their music, I marveled at how well produced it was. So much thought was put into surprising & entertaining the listener with every hook, line and sinker at their disposal (within the alternative genre).
Maybe with web labels etc. the artists do not feel that EVERYTHING is ridding on it being new and fresh and awesome. Now it’s more like: “Here’s something you might like…”
