    It would be cool if I alone got to choose the exact time, place and circumstances by which I became an Martyr.
    Only Islam “offers” this.
    Martyr: A word no longer understood. Like Hero, I suppose.
    While being a single mom takes enormous effort, does it qualify one as a Hero? Not on those grounds alone.
    What about rushing into an inferno to save a life? Yes, that is an Heroic act.
    All this is true of the word Martyr: The proportions of Meaning, and the Qualifications of Will/Action are utterly lost on the world today.
