Freelance Whales poignantly arrived with their lively daydream folk sound back in 2009. Wheathervanes, their debut album, was a friendly and inviting first broadcast of what they as a group offered. It seems that somewhere between then and now they lost the grip on that sound. Diluvia is stressed out with unnecessary synthesizers and voices hiding behind tinny filters and that unbecoming 80’s snap snare. These new, ordinary sounds, in my opinion, degenerate the purity of their once original music.
