Ooooh… mysterious.
Like a women this one.
Very vague information from Boomkat (but it’s some):
“*Limited edition run of 90 hand-assemebled copies for the world, comes housed in a modified oversized and stamped sleeve, with a CD album inside plus 4 limited edition prints – never to be re-pressed* Ok, so we’re under strict instructions to keep the anonimity thing firmly intact with this one, so we’re kinda not really sure what we can and can’t say. All we can really bring ourselves to mention is that it takes a certain pedigree (not to mention confidence) to do this kinda thing properly, and the person behind this new untitled imprint has gone the whole hog – there are no artist or label names to get in the way of your enjoyment, and although each instalment in this series will come from different (well known in our world) artists, they’ve all had to leave their egos at the door and make do with being part of this beautifully bespoke enterprise. Only 90 copies are available – and although we’ve no doubt that sooner or later the cat’ll be let out the bag, for the moment you’ll just have to decide if you want to take a punt… keeping in mind that everything else the people behind this label have ever made has sold out pretty much in a flash. Anyway, good luck!”
Thanks, cant do any harm to toss the dice
Thanks Patrick, I was going to skip it but now I’m intregued! You know… I bet it’s Rafael Anton Irisarri & Marconi Union working with Girl Talk and Monster Rally whilst Aidan Baker handles production and mixing. Dont say I didn’t tell you!
Ha, how did I know someone would find this on Boomkat. Interesting.
if i had to guess, it’s thom yorke with one of his attempts to “remain relevant as an artiste” marketing gimmicks yet again
on boomkat?
dumb-ass
Look up the definition, purpose and term “marketing”.
Then come back and we can talk.
Nice idea. You always think of music from a musician and somehow they took that away a little bit.
what about people from skam/gescom? it’s pretty mysterious there too..
so… who has heard it? what does it come close to sounding like?
it sounds like the smell of my stale farts
sounds like a very very quiet POLE and some Ryuichi Sakamoto to me… but even that isn’t very close. it’s even hard to distinguish between the tracks.. if every track is from a different artist, it sounds very alike.
Boards of Canada resurfacing….?
no way
Eluvium?
kind of
I appreciate the download links, nodata, as usual. That said, I can’t help but wonder if this album’s presentation influences our perceptions of its musical quality.
Nice point, but I think every albums presentation affects how you perceive it- especially cover art which (sadly, I know) often determines if I’ll download an album or not.
Re: your name….Stay away from Casper, he’s mine!!
The remote viewer, the boats, someone who used to be in Hood?
I’m listening to this mystery music and I must admit it’s quite lovely… very discreet and evocative… quietly shimmering… intriguing and languid… could be Fennesz.. or is it Stars of the Lid? whatever…. thumbs up! Thank you once again Nodata!
Style over substance?
is the black people music?
丸谷(Marutani)?????????
Gimmick of the year
Gimmick of the year? Eh, it’s too limited to say that it has an exceptional success as a gimmick.
Granting what Boomkat says is truthful, I don’t think it could be Stars of the Lid or Fennesz, both of whom usually release stuff on labels far too large to sell out in a flash.
I haven’t even listened to it yet, so I can’t put forth any really educated guesses, but the inclusion of photograph prints makes me think 12k and Taylor Deupree. I’m probably exceptionally wrong on that though. They do sell out a good amount of their stuff, but again, not really “in a flash”.
Douchebag I had the same thoughts of those Moteer boys.
Its definitely the boats imo.
It has their same production. The sonics are very british and reminiscently brooding like the boats.
The final track was a clincher for me. One of the best songs i’ve ever heard.
Chris Stewart, Danny Norbury, Andrew Hargreaves, Craig Tattersall
Remote Viewer, The boats etc
I agree with one and douchebag.
fennesz is a good idea. but fennest isn’t sold out fast.
IT’S PINK FLOYD, PEOPLE!
Sounds like Leyland Kirby to me
Please re-upload. I’m dying to hear this, and all the links appear to be down. Once again, UL IS NOT SUPPORTED IN AMERICA. FUCK.
Any chance of a re-up of which ever in the series are down? I’m sure people would love to grab them since the physical copies are gone and there doesn’t seem to be a discography or compilation anywhere.
