…you’ve put up a charity release? That’s incredibly low.

It’s very cheap and you get 34 tracks and if you get it from their Bandcamp then 100% of the proceedings go to the Deutsches Red Cross. If you want this, please pay for it!

There are many, many other ways of giving to charity. How about if you just send some money to a Red Cross without having to receive an album or t-shirt or poster for it?

      • scab April 16, 2011

agreed. nothing is stopping anyone from donating.

        • S April 16, 2011

well, human selfishness is stopping people from donating, which is presumably why a compilation as large as this is so cheap. Not everyone is willing to donate off their own back towards a cause that isn’t directly affecting them, so getting an album in return is a good incentive to donate.

If even one person buys this rather than downloading it for free then that’s a small sum towards the Red Cross which, presumably, they wouldn’t have received otherwise.

          • g April 17, 2011

i wouldnt know about the existence of the comp. if i hadnt see it here.now im going to buy it.so is it really bad for letting it out here?

  2. N. April 16, 2011

words really can’t express how disappointed i am. damn, this is a charity album …

    • jojo April 16, 2011

      SO WHAT???
if you want to help people in japan, just go and donate the money

      • S April 16, 2011

What a ridiculous commment. By buying this that’s EXACTLY what you’d be doing – donating the money. That’s the point of it…it’s just an alternative channel of donating.

        • jojo April 16, 2011

yeah, and by buying the record you support the artist

downloading records for free never stopped me from buying them later when they were released and going to gigs. it’s same here, i’ll buy it if it’s any good and if it’s rubbish i’ll just find other way to donate and help japanese people.

          • S April 16, 2011

But if you buy it then you’ve found a way of donating to the Japanese effort. And if it is rubbish then you can just delete it from your hard drive.

Bearing in mind that 100% of the proceeds go to charity if you get it from their Bandcamp, it doesn’t make a difference how you donate or which channel you use – it still goes to the Red Cross in the end.

Not to mention you can stream the whole thing on the Bandcamp page anyway…

  3. Bettina Richards April 16, 2011

i wouldn’t have known about this release if not for this post. now i just went ahead and bought myself a copy. thanks nodata!

    • Helixxx April 16, 2011

I know some people will just download ir from here, and that is disappointing… But there are people with conciousness, like Bettina and me that, knowing the purpose of this record, will buy themselves one copy too, and just because nodata.tv posted the link here. And now, I can share the Kompakt link in my Facebook page, so my friends will be able to purchase and donate to Japan. Some people are so narrowed mind.

thanks for the album. yesterday i catch it in last.fm and when i click on the link, the album was not available in the itunes store for chile.

enjoy the music, the link to make a direct donation to red cross works worldwide.

  5. livedriver April 16, 2011

  6. sat April 16, 2011

    From stricken area in Japan.
Reading it aroused mixed feelings in me.

  7. xzt April 16, 2011

Reporting each link for copyright. At least have SOME decency.

    • Snatch Dracula April 19, 2011

      Bad this person’s IP

  8. bilbikl April 16, 2011

Remove this link. t’s a shamme to find this here.

  9. jojo April 16, 2011

  10. S April 16, 2011

If the links do get removed I’d really like this post to stay up though, because as some people have said this has raised awareness of the compilation for those that may not have known otherwise. For any other techno, house and disco fans who wish to donate and get something in return there are a couple of some similar efforts out there.

Soul Aid offers free downloads of their tracks if you don’t wish to donate, but also has a very quick and easy link for donations to go with it as well. You can put forward as much or as little as you want and you’re getting a solid set of tracks in return for the favour http://soulaid.org/

Turbo Recordings are offering a year-long subscription to their label where you receive all of their releases digitally as they come out, which over the year is a huge saving. Until 1st May, 100% of this will go to the Japan effort. They’ve already raised LOADS from this http://shop-turbo.com/

As people have said, there’s nothing stopping you from donating directly to the Red Cross. But you’d be more likely to pay £30 for a Turbo subscription than £30 simply out of charity. You may end up giving more than you normally would because you feel you’re receiving something in return. That’s why things like this exist and should be supported.

If anyone has any other links to similar initiatives, please post them!

the release of this compilation is meant to help people.. think about it..

  12. Dasr April 16, 2011

    jojo :
    SO WHAT???
if you want to help people in japan, just go and donate the money

Donating are nice – that is what the artist is doing. Hoping to help by encouraging people to donate by donating their work. What you did – Proved you don’t care about the music or the artist – you just want more hits. And besides it’s tacky.

    • jojo April 16, 2011

      you can’t even read

      • Dasr April 16, 2011

        You didn’t write that?

        • jojo April 16, 2011

nope. all i said was that there is always a way to donate if you really want it. and there is always a way for someone to steal the music for free and it’s not nodata’s fault.

  13. jojo April 16, 2011

    2S

you’re right, i could just visit their bandcamp page to check the music out. the problem is i didn’t even know about this release until today when i found it on nodata.

i think you are trying to make a problem out of nothing. nodata’s main point is to help people find new music and once you’ve found it it’s really up to you weather to pay for it and support the artist\make a donation or just steal it and listen to it for free.

  14. kosu April 16, 2011

    this is bullshit.

  15. Freestuf April 16, 2011

Thanks for this. I love free stuff!!!!!!!!

  16. bumps April 16, 2011

Free advertisement. Now people know this is out to purchase. Now go buy it. I just did.

  17. Ian April 16, 2011

I heart the Jockey of Thrill’s and Bettina Richards!

  18. REVIEWS April 16, 2011

Would someone just give their impressions of the music on the album?

  19. kk April 16, 2011

You guys all download music for off here, but get all self-righteous with this all of the sudden? You either pay for your music or you don’t. There’s lots of albums on here that you could pay for, and it would go directly to the artist. But instead you download it for free right? Well that musician might be need the money as well, but I don’t see these types of comments on all the links. So please get off your high horse and stop acting like you’re better than everybody else on here.

  20. hecks April 17, 2011

how about a happy compromise by providing a link to the bandcamp version as well? that way people can still be made aware of it and have the option to download/donate from the original source.

    • N. April 17, 2011

      great idea!

      • dryclaine April 17, 2011

        i second this motion!

  21. N. April 17, 2011

»Ocean of Tears« Another great compilation from russian instrumental Jazz-hip-hop producers to the recent tragic events which are known by everyone and to which there is a place in everyone’s heart. Get it here for free download:

  22. DM April 17, 2011

i wont download this, but damn, everyone stop trying to be morally correct. that is the saddest thing.
downloading any album is morally incorrect, idiots.

  23. dryclaine April 17, 2011

nodata.tv is about the spread of music and artist awareness. I use this site solely as a way to gain access to new bands and buy there merch if they pass my test of worth.
nodata.tv is not about donations, if you’re going to donate to japan than do it but this link being up will not stop anyone that was going to originally buy it.
nodata.tv is not the sole gateway to music on the internet, him having this link up is just a sign that it is available on the internet for free.

  24. fuk off April 17, 2011

U guys didn’t read the qupte at the top of the page? This is the end of record labels and paying for music. If any of u “moral” ppl wanted to help Japan, u would’ve donated directly to the red cross off the bat when the earthquake happened.

  25. lol April 18, 2011

@ these self-righteous retards. i’m gonna listen the shit out of this here album and i’m not finna give a single red cent to japan, just to fuck all of you hypersensitive, hypocritical little bitches.

    • juan April 19, 2011

      thumbs up

  26. matt August 28, 2011

Ugh. You know what self-righteous is? It’s facelessly, indiscriminately shamelessly spreading the content of a charity project and telling me you’re ‘helping’.

Hipsters, how long can you continue to believe your own bullshit?
