This is the first mountain goats album i’ve been able to get behind in a long time. JD has really been tempering his vigor lately but he more than makes up for it with the production on this one.
Also I think by this point the term “lofi” is a total misnomer for the mountain goats.
I’m a fan of most of the post lo-fi TMG albums they’ve put out close to 10 since their last lo-fi album so I agree, miscategorized. I think this is a nice middle ground between their last 2 albums, with a more somber feel to most the songs.
