I was born with a third ear (the thing morphed out of the back of my skull) and have had an acute sense of hearing (still waiting for Bose to design a headphone that caters to this problem) receiving information quite clearly from passerby’s on the street. I wear my hair long so that the extra appendage goes un-noticed while in company. I once shaved my head exposing the back side of my head and I noticed that people would talk to one side of head (left or right, I have a better right profile) mistaking the front of my face until they realize that I have a third ear. These people would then start to circle my head looking for the front side of my face. They felt as though they had committed a social gape, they were embarrassed, I was embarrassed. I grew my hair long again.
