I would greatly appreciate it if you would remove my album from your website and at least give me a chance to sell a few copies first so we will be able to afford to make the next album and release it.
hi. I had never heard of you before today. I, like thousands of other people, browse this site almost daily. Your record cover and the genre tags stood out to me. I planned on downloading it, to see if I like it. I would say I end up buying about 5% of the things I listen to on this site. However, if I discover an artist I really like, I will go on to buy many more things from them, and also recommend them to others. I have many friends who can afford to buy many more of the things they listen to than I do, and those I know who don’t buy anything they download are usually in difficult financial situations that prevent them from doing so. I have never heard of anyone who had planned on buying something, but didn’t because s/he found a download of it instead. At the worst, many more people are becoming aware of your music through sites like this. At best, they are then impressed enough by the music to keep an eye on you, purchase releases, attend shows, book shows, etc. Feel free to send an anonymous poll out to your fans to see who has purchased your albums, whether they’ve ever illegally downloaded your music, and how they first heard of you if you’re curious about finding out for yourself.
they won’t listen, do not bother
