Daedelus is a funny name for a band.
ummm… you need to get learned, first, not a band, second, he’s pretty damn legendary.
Is it his second name? Same as a character from Joyce’s novels.
The name originates from before Joyce wrote anything. Daedelus was an inventor in Greek mythology who crafted wings for his son Icarus. Although the wings were perfect, they were attached with wax so when Icarus flew too high the sun melted it, his wings came loose, & he fell from the sky. This is often quoted as a parable to not be overly ambitious etc.
Anyway, Daedelus (Alfred Darlington) is a legendary musician/producer/artist. He’s def in my top 10 acts to see in my life & his previous work is included in my favourite electronic tracks of all-time. Albums like ‘Denies the Day’s Demise’ & ‘Exquisite Corpse’ are total genius. Do yourself a favour & take a listen to these unique albums, even though they were made many years ago. & yes, I also can’t wait for his new full-length release!
@listener: Your response to conaeir was such an ultra-lame hipster-ism; as if you’re so fucking enlightened and important for having a background knowledge of Daedalus anyone could get from a cursory glance at a Wiki. (Not to mention the supposition that YOUR OPINION of his work as “legendary” should be regarded as common knowledge.)
So (s)he didn’t know Daedalus is a one-man project; so fucking what? Just be polite and answer the man with some courtesy and humility.
You make music fans look like pompous, elitist douchebags when you answer like that. Get over yourself.
Can’t wait for the full-length album!
second dat, what kid said up top…get in the know…
Excuse my ignorance and cheers for the info, currently downloading his catalog. Also I wasn’t implying that Joyce had invented the name, merely that it was the same.
And he does appear to be influenced by Joyce in some way or another considering both the spelling of the name and naming an ep after one of his early works. Just putting that out there.
Scratch the name thing as Joyce and the parable are the same spelling wise.
I agree, Daedelus is a genius.
