None of The Pixies on there? I thought they were influential on Nirvanas work?
There are a few absent artists — the Pixies are one, and another obvious one is the Raincoats (Cobain’s championing of this band led to the re-release of their catalog). Not a bad compilation, but pretty pedestrian.
sonic youth? oh i forgot, english press always ignores sonic youth..
No… It might be something to do with licensing arrangements/costs maybe. It’s only a “freebie” from a magazine after all.
It’s probably a licensing thing but it can’t really be called The Roots Of Nirvana without any Black Sabbath, Pixies or Sonic Youth.
