    Love this!

selling at only $5, it was intended to be nice gesture + exclusive to people who make the effort to come out to these shows.
however, within 12 hours of the Tucson show (the first place it was EVER for sale),
it has already been uploaded to the internet in several places,
enabling other people to start stealing it.
i fully understand the unavoidable nature of things, and i have to just deal with it, but whoever you are—
you looked me right in the eyes and shook my hand to buy the thing.
dude. i assumed i could have a certain amount of faith in people, and in YOU, to not to be such an asshole,
but now it’s a bit more difficult for me. i guess could also blame my own naivety.

don’t be an asshole next time. please.

notwill, what about the people who are not able see baths live? people in contries he isn’t touring, or simply don’t have the money? wouldn’t it be a shame that they could never listen to these songs?

i saw baths a few months ago in amsterdam, and this wasn’t for sale. even if it was for sale, i wouldn’t have bought it because i’m a pretty poor student who spends almost all his money on gigs, yes, to see artists. i can’t affort to buy everything by every artist i go to, because i wouldn’t be able to buy tickets anymore.

you’re making it look like only people who bought this are allowed to listen to these songs. people who didn’t spend any money on it should just fuck off? thats ridiculous dude.

i’m really happy this was uploaded because i love this music to death. this is the only way i can listen to these songs. next time he’s here i’ll definately go and see him again.

what ‘Notwill’ edits out of Will’s statement is that you are free to listen to it as you wish AFTER his current tour has ended, citing ethics as the reason why one would do so. I think that’s fair enough personally, if you choose to listen to these songs now whilst having the opportunity to buy them on his current tour then it’s your prerogative.

ive never heard of ‘baths’ and am dissapointed that i could not sample this album/ep. these are mp3’s not cd quality nor do they come burnt or pressed on a ‘real’ piece of silicon wafer encased in plastic (a physical product)… keep in mind that if someone likes something it is only right to support that band or product/manufacturer by buying directly from them. as a musician myself i didnt get into music to make money, like art its something never mastered and needing constant mapping and experimentation… ive spend tens of thousands on gear/recording studios, and even more in hours on songs/albums. word of mouth is still the best advertisment. how better to get the ball rolling by making people talk about your album by circulating it around…. just like lsd administered by timorhy leary, would you buy a new experimental drug? no, would you take some for free? yup, thought so.

i am in iran, any chance you touring here?

  5. Notwill February 4, 2011

Just thought people might be interested in what Will had to say. I read it on his blog as I listened to the lovely album.
Sorry if it hit your guilt spot rather than was interesting to you. :-)

hey notwill. why dont you tell will ill buy the cd at his show when he takes the initiative and comes to my city. fuck no am i driving from detroit to chicago. tell him to stop being a pussy and either accept the fact that music is a free comodity these days or play every major city in the world for under 10 dollars so we can afford the fuckin cd.

  7. prairie shabazz February 4, 2011

    fuck only “every major city”….

  8. natas February 4, 2011

does will talk about/mention playing in iran on his ‘blog’?

let ‘will’ speak for himself. and no, i dont feel guilty posting an alternative ‘working’ link… music had the right to ears/be heard. you should feel guilt for trying to circumvent and/or control its ‘free’ distribution… and forcing guilt upon someone, thats what opression is all about, you ever think about that?

  9. bano February 5, 2011

I’m from Macedonia…Baths album is not for sale here, they will never play here, and I don’t have a credit card to buy it from the net (and nobody delivers in Macedonia)///i have a radio show dough, so I’ll play them, people will find out about them, and maybe someone will buy their cd or visit their show…so put the link back, pls…i’ll never hear the bend otherwise :) pls

  10. notwill February 5, 2011

Natas – you make no fucking sense. “let ‘will’ speak for himself” huh? – the comment I posted was a direct quote from Will.
“Forcing guilt”? “Opression”? Complete fucking nonsense.
I downloaded some free music and I read what the artist said about it, so thought others might want to do the same.
Simple as that. Get over it ffs.

  11. stroehl February 5, 2011

hm, i dont get this. when old dinosaur bands who are used to physical record distribution cry about mp3 piracy i kind of understand it…
but what the heck? baths became known over the blogosphere in the first place! im not saying he should be totally cool with it and give his music away for free. but the whining is kind of lame.

(btw i recommended his first album to a lot of people, all of them bought it on vinyl… so thats that!)

  12. notwill February 5, 2011

“he should be totally cool with it and give his music away for free”
He does. You can get about 5 albums worth free off his blogsite. The guy is cool with free stuff. Maybe thats partly why he was pissed off with this being pirated.

  13. marcinchleb February 7, 2011

buying music does not work nowadays. stop tis nonsense discussion. music IS free, money for artists are in gigs. end of discussion.

  14. boytano February 7, 2011

look forward to seeing you tonight in ATL…and picking up these b sides!

  15. natas February 7, 2011

    @notwill-

so just posting the url to their blog would not have been sufficient? your original post contains no “quotation marks” leading readers to believe you are will of baths, only later posts clarify this yet still you neglect to post the blogs URL, then the cherry on top; you add your lame 2 cents worth.

“Sorry if it hit your guilt spot rather than was interesting to you. :-)” (you didn’t)

download, listen, if you like support the artist. enjoy!

and right on to ‘bano’ for extending their listener base!
because your posts did none of that.

lets refocus on “baths” and how great they are ;)

    those links do not work;

Its this simple: If tere is no way to give BATHS payback in the form of money for the music, either show/buy cd, then anything after that is promotional and to Baths benifit. I can not do either, so it is, as a third scenario, to their benifit that i listen, like and tell others. Thanks for the links! This is good music,i highly recomend their album Cerulean!
