Kinshasa One Two an album by DRC Music will be released digitally by Warp Records on 3rd October 2011 with a CD/vinyl release to follow on 7th November, to benefit Oxfam.

Kinshasa One Two was recorded in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo over 5 days this past July. DRC Music (a collective of producers gathered by Damon Albarn) set out to make an album with contemporary Congolese musicians and worked with more than 50 local performers including Jupiter and the Okwess International, Bokatola System and Nelly Liyemge. DRC Music is comprised of producers: T-E-E-D (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs), Dan The Automator, Jneiro Jarel, Richard Russell, Actress, Marc Antoine, Alwest, Remi Kabaka, Rodaidh McDonald and Kwes, with album artwork by Aitor Throup and Hardy Blechman.

The Democratic Republic of Congo has long been wracked by conflict and is home to one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. Proceeds from the album will benefit the local performers and Oxfam’s work in Congo.

Dunno what all the hate is about. It’s funny when people judge MUSIC before they HEAR IT.
This is really great.Of course you won’t know what they’re saying unless you speak AfriCongo.

ITT: people who forgot that Albarn has gifted us with DEMON DAYS and BLUR

That’s the kiss of death then, anything that prick demon albarn touches is good enough to ward me off. I can just see the documentary about the making of this. Fucking demon sittin’ there in his pipe an’ slippers pontificating about ‘world’ music.

it’s not damon new album. he just only sings in one song and maybe plays intruments (guitar/melodica)and produces some songs. that’s all. he put his name to this record officialy cos after that this record can sell more.

Yeah dunno if you listened to the other world music album he collaborated on called ‘Mali Music’ in 2002. Mainly made with local musicians & he just mixed it I think & put some nice dubby beats here & there.

Really enjoyed it, nothing at all like his work on Blur, Gorillaz, the Good the Bad & the Queen etc. I imagine this is the same concept but with musicians from the Congo & not Mali.

Albarn is the same as Radiohead, fucking vampires of culture and art/artists. sucking the talent dry to satiate their own bloated fucking rotting public school corpses. Radiohead getting the latest ‘du jour’ dj/producer to remix their new godawful fucking car crash of a track to bolster the street cred and be ‘down’ with the kids, reeks of desperation. as does Alberk and his collabs with celebrities and electronica producers and worthy ‘world music’ acts. i would hope those musician on this record see some monetary profit from this venture.
